Jazz fans were at the San Angelo museum of fine arts enjoying music from the West Texas Jazz Orchestra today. The museum held their play it again concert. People sat and listened and even danced to some jazz and big band music. Tony Award-winning Broadway orchestrator Michael Starobin’s new composition, “dream dream confronting,” is on the program of a Feb. 1 Manhattan concert by the Pit Stop Players, made up of Broadway pit musicians. “Seattle Jazz Legends” concert, with Buddy Catlett, Ernestine Anderson and others, is part of a jazz-documentary project spearheaded by Jessica Davis. Documentary filmmaking is by nature a labor of love, which explains Jessica Davis’ dogged pursuit of the ongoing project “In Between the Raindrops,” an affectionate, episodic look at the history of jazz in Seattle… The jazz composer and guitarist’s specially designed instrument allows him to play bass lines and guitar melodies at once.
