TICKETS have gone on sale for a traditional jazz concert taking place in Kibworth on Friday, November 13. Friends of the Rancho Mirage Public Library will host a free jazz concert today. Pianist and composer Matthew Shipp has an intricate and heady approach to his music, with avant-garde impulses that have led him to experiment with free jazz styles, tape loops and even turntable artists. Ornette Coleman, an American musician known as one of the greatest innovaters in free jazz, has won the Miles Davis Award at the Montreal International Jazz Festival. You don’t need to spend a lot of money to hear top-shelf jazz and blues here at the Jersey Shore. Swing Legacy comes to Hudson on Wednesday, the first of five free concerts in the Wood Park Concert Series.
