Washington, D.C. is a weird place to hold a free jazz festival. But the first annual New Atlantis Festival brought solid crowds and stellar performances from Sabir Mateen, Joe Morris, Weasel Walter and more MADISON At 1 p.m. Sunday, June 6, the Board of Trustees of Madisons Museum of Early Trades and Crafts will honor Madison jazz musician and craftsman Jerry Vezza as the 2010 Craftsman of the Year with a luncheon and concert at the Madison Hotel at 1 Convent Road off Madison Avenue in the Convent Station section of Morris Township. Conductor Butch Morris concludes a 10-day Cornish College residency with a “conduction” a spontaneously directed ensemble performance unlike anything else. MORRISTOWN â Dave Humm will bring his musician friends to heat up the Morristown and Morris Township Library with cool jazz concerts on two Fridays in July. The Vocal Arts Ensemble will perform a world-premiere work and sing a selection from each visiting choir’s country tonight at the Welcome Concert to kick off the second California International Choral Festival & Competition.
