The Netherlands-based sextet of pianist and composer Amina Figarova will inaugurate Jazz Series 2010, sponsored by the Western North Carolina Jazz Society. Once again, the Sisters Folk Festival has rolled out an impressive lineup for its annual Winter Concert Series. Free Arts in the Park concert in Litchfield Park. Gypsy jazz is what Keith Watling will bring to the stage at thisyear’s Jean’s Jazz Series, which opens Jan. 28 at the RacineTheatre Guild, 2519 Northwestern Ave. Yet that is just a samplingof what the Milwaukee-based guitarist has to offer music fans. Jazz, salsa and Celtic music will be part of the mix in a new concert series that will kick off next month at Joplin’s Memorial Hall. After a break for the holidays, the St. MADISON - The Madison Music Association will present its annual “Dessert and Jazz” concert at 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, in the cafeteria of Madison High School at 170 Ridgedale Ave. North Central College will present the third in its Jazz Faculty Concert Series with a performance by vocalist Janice Borla. Joining her will be guitarist John McLean, pianist Frank Caruso, bassist Larry Kohut and drummer Jack Mouse. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. The Georgia Straight Jazz Society welcomes you back to the 2010 season of Thursday Night Jazz at the Elks’.
