A couple of jazz musicians who left the area to find success in bigger markets will return this weekend to take top billing at the Historic Lewiston Jazz Festival. The Bluemont Concert Series also continues at 7:30 p.m. Sunday with a visit from the Martinsburg Jazz Orchestra. Four of the area’s finest up-and-coming jazz musicians will play a dinner concert this Friday at the Courtyard Cafe in Qualicum Beach. So far, The Mercato – Italian for “market” and a sprawling residential, restaurant and shopping complex in North Naples – has been one of the area’s better-kept secrets. With the kick-off of its Summer Concert Series on Friday night – an outdoor, festival-style event scheduled for 5 to 8 p.m. on the first Friday of each month through September – employees working at The Mercato hope it doesn’t … America is cool, because its the birthplace of jazz. Since then, it has been loved worldwide. |
