Hurricane Sam and the Hotshots will perform from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, July 3 as part of the city of Sausalito’s concert series, Jazz & Blues by the Bay. Josh Rzepka doesn’t discriminate when it comes to classical and jazz. The Akron-born trumpeter plays both, and he’s in the midst of recording compact discs in each genre. This column preceding Independence Day kicks off with two more MVD CDs in their great series of essential jazz albums, then touches base with a local band’s debut album before wrapping up with a DVD chronicling the 6,000th concert from All-American guitar hero Ted Nugent. |
