Under the baton of bandmaster Richard Davenport, the Chipley High School Symphonic Band presented their annual Spring Concert on May 14 in the CHS auditorium. The best-kept secret in Ventura County, say members of the Oxnard Community Concert Association, is its $70 season ticket that buys five concerts featuring internationally acclaimed performers. VENTURA — The Ventura High School Music Department will hold its annual benefit concert Nov. 6, featuring the school’s wind ensemble, string orchestra, symphonic band, and both jazz bands. The students from these ensembles also have formed a number of smaller chamber groups The Cesar Mateus Sextet, fresh from performances in Canada this summer, will bring their sultry Latin jazz to the Ventura College Theatre on October 8, 8 pm.
