The most notable thing about Four Women Only, which performs here Wednesday at the all-ages Birch North Park Theatre, isn’t that all its members are women. Rather, it’s that each of its members is a gifted band leader, composer and solo artist in her own right. Sam Payne will perform at the Concert in the Park in the Amphitheater at Quail Cove, 851 E. 700 North, at 7 p.m. on Monday “Jazz From a Lower Latitude” featuring Jackson and Maggie Evans will perform Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Logan Arthouse and Cinema, 795 North Main. A gentle breeze carried the sounds of cool jazz through Renfrew Park Sunday during the annual Renfrew Institute Jazz Festival. Almost 1,000 people relaxed under the shade on the lawn behind the museum house, listening to five world-renowned jazz musicians. The free afternoon of music has been a staple community event for the past 19 years. DEARBORN — The Groove Brothers entertain a large crowd at Dearborn City Hall Park Wednesday for the last of the Jazz on the Avenue free concert series. Helm’s presence — at 70, he’s still a ferocious drummer — was cheered as much as the top-notch music … The ‘29th Annual Flint Jazz Festival’ is underway in Riverbank Park downtown Saturday.
