The Wenatchee Jazz Workshop is under way this week in the music room at Wenatchee High School. Jazz bands from Eastmont Junior High School, Wenatchee High School, Pioneer Middle School and a combined band from Orchard and Foothills middle schools are getting help from six professional musicians. AS BOB ATHAYDE, director of the 11th annual Summer Music Jazz Workshop, said at the climactic free concert at Lafayette’s Stanley Middle School, “This is the essence of sound.” The 41st season of the Topeka Jazz Workshop got off to a rousing start on Sunday afternoon at the Ramada Hotel and Convention Center thanks to an 18-strong ensemble of the local musical heroes who comprise the Topeka Jazz Workshop Band. read more Stanford’s Jazz Workshop draws students ages 12-17 who come to play and learn from some of the masters.
