Jazz pros teach students that the show must go on

STAMFORD — One of the primary lessons in jazz is learning to improvise. Young performers learned that lesson on the first day of the annual Stamford Young Artists Summer Jazz Workshop on Monday, as they were unexpectedly shifted from Stamford High School to the First Presbyterian Church in Stamford because of asbestos removal.

Brockton High School to host free jazz concert

 The award-winning Brockton High School Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Workshop Band will perform a well-rounded slate of jazz favorites and newer fare at the annual jazz concert on Thursday. The concert is free and begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Edwin Nelson Auditorium at Brockton High School.
